Esprit V8 flywheels are quite finicky. “Blueing” hotspots develop from excess slipping of the clutch for extended periods of time. You are only able to remove 0.040″ of material from the face before the flywheel has to be replaced: if any more material is removed, the friction surface becomes too thin and deforms immediately resulting in a burnt clutch.
